Know More About Fat Burning Foods

One of the biggest misconception when trying to lose weight is that you have to eat less of everything. But on the contrary, if you really want to lose weight what you have to do is eat a lot – a lot of fat burning foods, I mean.

Some foods have a Thermogenic Effect which means that it can increase the amount of heat your body generates while it digests them. This results for your metabolism to speed up, which helps you lose belly fat. Although some skeptics say that eating these fat burning foods only give short term results, including them in diets that work could prolong their effect.

Here are some fat burning foods you may want to include in your diet.

Seafood

  • Salmon. As discussed on a previous post, leptin is a hormone that tells our brain were already at our eating capacity, while it’s counterpart grehlin is the one that signals hunger. Salmon affects the levels of leptin in our body leading to a decline in food consumption.
  • Tuna. It’s rich in Omega-3 fatty acids which are the best of the ‘good fats’ that help burn more calories. Try to mix it with your greens so you’ll add fiber to your dish.

Meat

  • Lean Meat. This could be pork or beef, but just remember to pick out the leanest part, so go for loin or round when at the supermarket. Lean meats are very high in protein, which requires more energy for the body to digest, thus burning more calories in the process.
  • Chicken. Chicken is high in protein and goes well with just about anything. Most people recommend free range chicken over the regular ones because it has the perfect balance of Omega-3 (good fats) and Omega-6 (bad fats) making their meat more nutritious than the regular ones.
  • Turkey. Don’t just have turkey during Thanksgiving, because this bird is one of the top fat burning foods out there. Turkey has the lowest calories per ounce among meats plus it has amino acid leucine which keeps metabolism high. Of course it is better to have grilled turkey rather than basted turkey any day of the week if you’re trying to lose weight.

Vegetables

  • Asparagus. Oxalic acid is the binder of fat to cells and asparagus contains a chemical which breaks down oxalic acid making it easier to flush out of our body. It also has asparagine that improves the kidney’s function thus improving our circulatory process.
  • Beets. Nothing beats beets in battling fat. First it has a special iron that targets the corpuscles which are blood cells that contain fat deposits. Second, it contains chlorine that clears out fat deposits. And third it’s a strong diuretic which means that you’re kidney and liver is working overtime to cleanse your body of toxins and fat.
  • Cabbage. If you want to detox, then add more cabbage into your meals. It contains sulphur and iodine which cleanses out your tummy and intestines of waste matter. This is great news for those that want a slimmer waistline.

Fiber-rich Food

  • Oats. Remember the Don’t Skip Breakfast Rule? Having a bowl of oatmeal everyday can greatly improve your metabolism. Take it unsweetened to have less sugar intake. What you can do is top it with fresh fruits that are also fat burning foods such as apples which have pectin that helps maintain a healthy colon. You can also use citrus fruits like pears and oranges that are rich in Vitamin C that stimulates a nutrient called carnetine that’s regarded for its effectivity to turn fat into energy. You can pair it with beverages that are also proven to be fat burning foods such as green tea, coffee and skim milk.
